Florida Rep. Tom Goodson says law on alcohol, minors awaits Scott's signature.

Florida -  An article in Florida Today on June 9, 2011, reported that the bill to strengthen penalties for people who hold house parties at which alcohol is served to teens is awaiting Governor Scott's signature.  If signed, the bill becomes law on July 1.  Under the bill, the second and subsequent violations of the open house party statue are elevated from a second-degree misdemeanor to a first-degree misdemeanor.  In addition, according to the article, the bill creates a first-degree misdemeanor if there is a death or serious injury resulting from a minor's consumption of alcohol or drugs at an open house party.
