County Sticker Shock Project
Goal: to
reach adults who might purchase alcohol legally and
provide it to minors!
This program is being coordinated by
the Safe Climate Coalition of Lake County, Inc. with
assistance from the SADD Chapters and the Lake County
Sheriff’s Office. For more information or to

provided by the Florida Office of Drug Control through
the 2006 Alcohol Initiative Grant award to the Safe
Climate Coalition of Lake County, Inc.
What is Lake County Sticker
Shock Project?

A county wide public awareness campaign that
places stickers on multi-packs of beer, wine coolers and
other alcohol products that appeal to underage
drinkers. Posters will also be made available for
cooler doors.

Aims to discourage adults from providing alcohol
to minors.
·
This campaign involves the Lake County SADD
Chapters with support from the Safe Climate Coalition
targeting retailers in Lake County that include small
convenience stores and large supermarkets.
·
Sponsored by the Safe Climate Coalition of Lake
County, Inc. with funding the Office of Drug Control,
Drug Free Communities Alcohol Initiative.

and youth access to alcohol.

Builds collaboration between youth, retailers,
concerned parents, community members, and law
enforcement and prevention professionals.

Strengthens the deterrent effect of the law
against providing alcohol to minors.

Lake
County Sticker Shock Project was adapted from Maine’s
Project Sticker Shock that has been implemented since
2001. Their project was originally adapted from a
campaign designed by a youth group in Pennsylvania in
1998.
